ANTONIO MARRASMFW | SEPTEMBER 2025
Antonio Marras’s Milan Fashion Week 2025 show transformed the former slaughterhouse into a poetic and deconstructed library, a stage where clothing became fragments of memory and narrative. Blearred was invited by Random Productions to design the lighting for the project, working in close dialogue with Paolo, Marras’s creative director, whose idea of a fragmented library defined the visual direction of the show.
Inside the vast industrial space of the ex Macello, scenographers created a long landscape of salt placed through the center of the hall. The models walked along two parallel catwalks running on either side of this central installation. The white, reflective surface of the salt introduced a unique challenge for lighting design: achieving balance and contrast while maintaining the correct exposure for both photography and video. It required a precise and scientific approach to illumination, ensuring that the garments could be read clearly without flattening the scene.
Following the initial brief with the creative team and the production agency, Matteo Masini developed the first version of the lighting concept and the initial plot. This layout was then refined in dialogue with Random Productions and the creative direction, evolving through a series of adjustments to reach a solution that respected the visual integrity of the set while ensuring photographic precision.
Within the studio, Francesco Rizzotto and Olek Mar’Yanov translated the project into detailed CAD drawings that defined the fixture positions, aiming angles, and technical geometry of the rig. Marzio Del Sole built the three-dimensional models of the venue and the scenic elements that were later used both for internal development and for the client presentations. On site, Jordan Babev directed the creative programming for Blearred, ensuring that the lighting composition aligned with the narrative rhythm of the show. The real-time operation was handled by Matteo De Salvia, who executed the programming during the rehearsals and live event.
To enhance the spatial perception and atmosphere, a controlled layer of haze was introduced throughout the hall, creating a volumetric density that allowed the light to breathe and define form.
The salt became a luminous body that absorbed and reflected light, while the parallel runways created a dual perspective that enveloped the audience in a slow, contemplative movement. The lighting carried a balance of precision and softness, giving shape to Marras’s vision of a literary and emotional landscape. Critics described the show as a theatrical composition that blended poetry, craft, and architecture in one gesture.
